At Grupo Torrent, we reaffirm our commitment to sustainability and social responsibility by joining the third edition of the Business & Human Rights Accelerator programme, promoted by the UN Global Compact Spain. This initiative, which includes the participation of over 60 Spanish companies such as Acciona, Adif, CEMEX, Navantia, Mercadona, and Iberdrola, aims to strengthen corporate management in the areas of human rights and sustainability.
Since its launch in 2023, the programme has trained more than 1,350 companies globally, 137 of them in Spain. Its approach aligns with the European Union’s Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CSDDD), a regulation that will impact approximately 5,000 companies in the country.
Our commitment to sustainability and human rights
Grupo Torrent’s participation in this initiative marks another step in our corporate social responsibility strategy. Over the six-month duration of the programme, we will receive specialised training to identify and mitigate human rights impacts, ensuring that our operations comply with European regulatory requirements and international best practices.
Being part of this programme allows us to strengthen our sustainability and human rights policy. We are convinced that responsible management is essential for the future of our sector and society.
Business & Human Rights Accelerator: A practical and global approach
The Business & Human Rights Accelerator benefits from the collaboration of internationally renowned entities such as Shift and the International Labour Organization (ILO), offering a practical approach tailored to the Spanish business reality. Through local sessions, participating companies have the opportunity to address specific concerns and share experiences that contribute to improving their performance in human rights matters.
The impact of previous editions has been highly positive, with 93% of participating companies recommending the programme and highlighting its effectiveness in developing and implementing human rights action plans.
Moving towards a sustainable future
At Grupo Torrent, we continue to prioritise innovation and social responsibility as key pillars of our corporate strategy. Our participation in this initiative allows us to progress towards a more sustainable business model aligned with international standards.
