With this commitment, Torrent enhances its sustainable business vision, aligning it with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), setting a clear direction towards creating long-term value not only for the company but also for society and the planet as a whole.
At Torrent Group, we reaffirm our role as a responsible actor within the business sector, promoting practices that generate a positive impact on the environment and contribute to global social and economic well-being. This adherence to the United Nations Global Compact not only represents a significant achievement for the company but also an opportunity to actively contribute to current global challenges.
United Nations Global Compact
The United Nations Global Compact, also known as the Global Compact, is the world’s largest corporate sustainability initiative. Launched in 2000 by then UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan, this platform was designed to align business strategies and operations with ten universal principles related to human rights, labour standards, the environment, and anti-corruption.
Furthermore, under the United Nations mandate, this initiative actively promotes the integration of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) within the business sphere, fostering greater corporate responsibility and contributing to a more sustainable future for all.
With over 12,000 organisations involved across 170 countries, the Global Compact has successfully built a global network of companies and entities committed to a more sustainable and equitable future.
Major Spanish companies involved
In addition to Grupo Torrent, numerous Spanish companies have joined the Global Compact, committing to work under these principles and contribute to the SDGs. Among them are notable names such as Inditex, Telefónica, Banco Santander, Iberdrola, CaixaBank, and Bayer.
