The Plastic Museum - Museo del plastico | Torrent Closures

EsPlásticos, the platform that brings together different agents in the sector (including Torrent Group), has launched the world’s first Museum of 100% Recyclable Plastic: The Plastic Museum. It is located in Madrid, on Plaza de Juan Goytisolo, opposite the Reina Sofía Museum, and was officially opened on 8th May by the Mayor of Madrid, José Luis Martínez Almeida.

The Plastic Museum was built entirely from plastic and will be fully recycled next Monday, 17th May, to coincide with World Recycling Day.

The plastic museum, the world’s first 100% recyclable museum

The purpose of the museum is to encourage people to think about plastics, those materials that have provided so much in terms of health, technology, society and the environment, and which have a recycling solution when everyone works together, especially in facing and resolving the problem of marine litter.

The Plastic Museum seeks to increase society’s awareness about the positive aspects of plastics when they are used correctly, and show visually how problems arise when plastic waste is not managed properly or when plastics are not used responsibly. Furthermore, it focuses on the importance of using plastic and its contribution to the protection of the environment during all phases of its life cycle: eco-design, use, re-use and recycling.
The museum highlights the advances made by society through the innovatory qualities of these materials, the changes brought about in our everyday lives through their use and the advantages they offer for safety (in terms of health, food and transport). It also emphasises its contribution in the fight against climate change through the reduction of energy consumption and CO2 emissions.
